Earls, marquises, viscounts and countesses all lived here;
One head of household was beheaded;
Another saw one of the last wolves in the British Isles;
Another built the longest country house in the country and was one of
the earliest growers of pineapples in England;
Another was prime minister twice;
Another had a christening attended by more than 7,000
Official guests;
And another bought an ocean liner to go and search for buried treasure

Grenoside Singers
Grenoside Singers is a mixed-voice choir of around 50 men and
women formed in  January 2007 when the Grenoside Male
Voice Choir opened its doors to ladies for the first time in its
56-year history they have been developing a new mixed-voice
repertoire ever since.
Featuring traditional folk music and newly written songs from other countries, times and
cultures.  Sung in four part harmony this 80 strong choir has a wide ranging repertoire.

Since the choir started in 2001 it has gone from strength to strength. At the start the aim was
simply to get together a choir to put on a Christmas carol concert featuring some less well
known carols and songs. The SpiteWinter concert of 2001 was so successful and enjoyable; it
was decided to sing on!
